‘Day in the Life’ of an Engineer

Posted on: 29/05/2023

Nower Hill was very pleased to host Octavian Nistor, who gave our students an insight into a ‘Day in the Life’ of an Engineer. Mr Nistor has extensive experience in engineering, having worked in the Automotive, Aerospace and Life Science sectors.

We are pleased to say we had 110 students attend the event. Student feedback was very positive, as students commented on how our guest speaker “has had such fascinating achievements”. Mr Nistor was kind enough to bring in one of his robots, which enabled Science labs to complete 10,000 Covid tests a day. He explained how integral this was to health care during the pandemic. Prior to this the lab was completing only up to 100 a day.

Mr Nistor advised on the educational route to Quality Engineering, the different sectors in the profession, the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of the profession, and key projects he has personally been involved with. He went on to detail specific challenges he had faced with projects and how these challenges were overcome.

Students were given a demonstration of the robot arm “Eva”, who had been programmed to ‘dance’ for the students to demonstrate her 6 degrees of freedom

Thank you so much to Mr Nistor for being so generous with his time and experience. It was a truly valuable experience for our budding engineers.
