GOVERNANCE PROFESSIONAL TO THE GOVERNING BOARD

£20 per hour

We require a Governance Professional to provide efficient, effective and confidential administrative support to the Governing Board.  This part time role allows considerable flexibility in terms of when and where work is completed outside of the meetings. You would receive support to train, develop and thrive, whilst making a significant contribution to our school. Governance at Nower Hill is highly valued by our school leaders supporting accountability, school improvement and the continuing drive towards educational excellence.

You will be responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the Chairs, taking and writing up the minutes at Governors’ meetings and distributing documentation and other information to the Governing Board. Full details of duties can be found in the Job Description.

There are approximately 12 meetings per academic year held in term time. Meetings are held mainly in the school premises and in the evenings at 6pm, Occasionally they may be rescheduled to a different day therefore some flexibility would be required.

When not attending Governing Board meetings, the successful applicant would be expected to complete remaining work offsite. Internet access will be required and excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential.

You will have experience of providing clerking services in an educational setting or be able to demonstrate appropriate experience to carry out the role along with a willingness to attend relevant training and development.

Faculty Teaching and Learning Assistants – Science or Maths Specialism

Required for an immediate start ideally with Science or Maths specialism. Temporary contract until 31st August 2022 in the first instance.  36 hours per week term time only 8.15am - 4.30pm.  Scale H5, £24,691 pa which pro rata is £21,024 pa.

You will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher and for supporting the learning of students in your attached faculty.  These abilities will be assessed at interview. 

We are looking for people educated to graduate level with an interest in how young people learn and enthusiasm for working in a school.  Previous experience in schools is not necessary. 

This role would be particularly suitable for someone thinking of a career in teaching.  There are many and varied CPD opportunities available and previous FTLAs have successfully gained places on PGCE courses and progressed to become qualified teachers.

ICT TECHNICIAN

36 hours per week term time only on scale H3 (£22,185 pa which pro rata is £18,891). 

Required for an immediate start. We are looking for an ICT technician to join a team in ICT maintenance and software support.  The successful candidate will have the ability to use the ICT facilities and assist students and staff in their use, have a willingness to develop their own expertise and that of students with an ability to learn quickly and to maintain an up-to-date awareness of relevant ICT developments. Training will be provided internally for both hardware and software solutions that are in use at Nower Hill with no prior specific knowledge to be required. GRADUATE INTERN TEACHING ASSISTANT

 Temporary contract until 31st August 2022.  35 hours per week term time only 8.15am - 4.15pm (a one-hour unpaid break is incorporated in the hours.) Salary scale H2, at £21,408 pa which pro rata is £17,724. 

Required for an October start an enthusiastic and committed person to support and work with students within and outside of the classroom. It is essential that applicants hold a degree qualification or equivalent. 

The successful candidate will support students both in the mainstream classroom and also in a 1:1 capacity. The successful candidate will also be expected to lead small group sessions within the core subject areas of Maths and English. An interest in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs including emotional, social and mental health needs is essential, together with an interest in supporting second language learners.  A caring, flexible and common sense approach is important.

6th FORM STUDY SUPERVISOR

14.25 hours per week, 32 weeks per year, from September until May half term each year. Scale H3 (£22,185), which pro rata is £7,479.  The hours of work would be 8.45am to 1.00pm on Wednesday – Thursday and 8.45am to 3.15pm on Fridays.

We are looking for a new 6th Form Study Supervisor to join our friendly and enthusiastic 6th Form team.  This role would suit someone who has had experience of working in a school or who is thinking of teaching as a possible career in the future; however previous experience of working in the education sector is not essential.

This is an interesting and varied role involving a mixture of supervising 6th Form students during their study periods and will involve delivering workshops, mentoring students, giving students advice about good study habits and supporting particular students with specific needs. You will be supported in your role by a large and committed 6th Form team. You will be fundamental to nurturing an environment that helps students develop their independent study skills and become happy, healthy individuals.

INTERNAL EXCLUSION COORDINATOR

28 hours per week term time only 8:15am-4:15pm, 4 days a week. Salary scale H4, at £22,992 pa which pro rata is £15,228. 

Required for an immediate start an enthusiastic, proactive and organised person to support, mentor and work with students. The right candidate will enjoy working with students who may present with challenging behaviour and be effective at maintaining good relationships whilst upholding very high expectations of behaviour.
 
The post would suit a suitably qualified youth worker or mentor, or someone with experience in working with teenagers. Alternatively, the post would suit a candidate with life experience gained in job roles that involve working with challenging client groups in highly structured or controlled situations. We would welcome applications from ex-forces personnel or the police force, for example, although this is not a requirement for the post.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

36 hours per week term time only plus one week in the school holidays.  Salary scale range dependent on qualifications and experience - H8, £32,416 per annum, which pro rata is £28,312 per annum to H10, £38,883 per annum, which pro rata is £33,960 per annum.

Required from January 2022, an enthusiastic and committed person with excellent leadership and management skills to lead the school’s HR function.  Successful experience in human resources, ideally within the education sector, is essential.  This post would suit someone looking for a change in working environment who has experience in HR, personnel and/or employment law. A CIPD recognised qualification at Level 5 is desirable, although consideration will be given to candidates who are working towards such a qualification.  Excellent customer care skills and attention to detail are essential as well as the ability to handle confidential information with the utmost integrity. 

Human Resources is an important area for the school. This role will provide the right candidate with an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to provide an excellent HR service for school staff, ensuring Nower Hill remains an employer of choice within the local community.
