To help prepare students who wish to apply to Oxford and Cambridge universities, medical and dental schools or other highly competitive courses, we offer a full support programme called Aspire that starts in Year 12. This is led by our designated UCAS Adviser and consists of workshops on critical thinking skills, debating techniques and coping with tricky interview questions without a right or wrong answer. We lead trips to higher education fairs and university libraries, offer subject support for Oxbridge entrance tests and an individual academic mentor is assigned to each candidate. For medicine and dentistry applicants, we provide tuition for the admissions tests known as the BMAT/UCAT and we arrange for external specialists to come in to provide the students with mock interview experience. An outline of this year’s Aspire programme is provided below.
