At Nower Hill, we are passionate about promoting reading and a love of literature; recent research shows a direct relationship between reading for pleasure and academic attainment. Therefore, I am excited to announce that 90 Year 7, 8 and Year 9 students were given the opportunity to attend a workshop on World Book Day hosted by G.P. Taylor, the author of the best-selling novels ‘Shadowmancer’, ‘Wormwood’ and ‘Tersias’.

Students learned about the five pillars of great creative writing, as well as the importance of characterisation and how to create their very own characters and bring them to life. G P Taylor also shared some fantastic stories from his life and taught students the importance of storytelling.

A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by students and staff alike.
