Child Development – Flour Baby Project

Posted on: 15/11/2021

We have our first Nower Hill Flour Baby project underway in Child Development.

Students in Year 9 have created their own Flour Babies that they will be looking after for a week. The purpose of the project is to demonstrate the responsibilities involved in managing a family that includes a baby, to care for the Flour Baby, gain a realisation of the commitment of time and energy it takes to have a child, the demands a child makes on a parent and to research and calculate the financial costs associated with having and caring for a newborn.

The students have approached it with great enthusiasm and some trepidation, but we have enjoyed seeing the Flour Babies around the school and look forward to reviewing the outcome at the end of the week!
