Nower Hill is committed to ensuring that every child can access learning which will enable them to continue to make progress through the current pandemic.
What to expect if your child is self isolating.
If your child is self isolating then they will be able to access their classwork through Google classroom and their homework through Show My Homework. Teachers will be putting the classwork for students up on Google classroom at the end of each day. As a result the work will be available to students from the start of the following day.
Students should submit their work to their teachers online where possible. For some work this will not be possible and students should keep hold of their work and bring it into lessons with them when they return after any period of absence due to illness/self-isolation/partial school closure They can seek guidance through show my Homework or Google classroom comments, however, teaching staff will be teaching in school and ask you to be patient regarding their response. If it is urgent please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
What to expect if your child is told they are now working remotely.
If your child is sent home as part of a whole class or year group, due to government advice as a result of positive cases of COVID-19 they will learn remotely. You will be contacted directly via email if this should occur.
If your child is in Years 9-13 then they will follow their usual two week timetable and will be notified of homework and classwork through Show My Homework -this will include the schedule of live lessons that will take place to support learning. All live lessons will be conducted through Google meet and much of the work they are set will appear in their Google classroom.
If your child is in Year 7 or 8, each half year group will follow one two-week timetable. All of the N side of year 7 will follow 7NN’s timetable and H side will follow 7NH’s timetable. In Year 8 the same will apply with all following either 8NN or 8NH’s timetable. This will be communicated to you through email and the students will be notified of homework and classwork through Show My Homework - this will include links to live sessions within school time.
All live lessons will be recorded and be made accessible to students. However, it is very important that they attend these sessions as they will benefit from live interaction with their teachers, where they will be able to ask questions using the messaging function on Google meet. Attendance will be recorded.
The ladder of consequence and ladder of rewards will still be implemented and parents will be informed of conduct points through the SIMs parent app. If you have not yet downloaded this app, Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further assistance, and you will be redirected accordingly.
If your child is ill whilst they are learning from home, you must inform the school so that we are aware that they will not be attending live sessions or completing home learning and record their attendance accordingly. You can inform us of their illness by emailing: email@example.com
If the students experience any problems whilst learning from home, please contact the school using the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org
