Our Vision
Creating choice and possibilities for all
At Nower Hill our proudly diverse and inclusive community believes that an ambitious education empowers every young person with the knowledge, skills, character and confidence to take control of their future. It encourages integrity, articulacy, and critical thinking. This drives a lifelong love of learning and a desire to make a difference.
We value ambition, commitment, creativity, equity, and kindness. We strive to ensure all students are challenged, well supported, and happy at school so they can thrive.
Choice is about the tangible options that strong qualifications, broad learning and high achievement make available. The higher and wider a student's academic and personal achievements, the more doors remain open to them in further education, employment and life. A strong foundation creates opportunity and enables every student to realise their aspirations.
Possibilities are about the discovery and imagination that education unlocks. Through exposure to new ideas, disciplines and experiences, students come to see futures they might never have imagined for themselves. We prepare young people for the next stage of learning and also invite them to explore what might be possible: to think broadly, act purposefully and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Our Values
Our values shape who we are, how we learn, and how we treat one another. We have five important school values at Nower Hill that we designed together.
Ambition

What this means to us: aspiring to excellence and holding the highest expectations for ourselves and all others. It's about drive and self-belief, aiming high, taking responsibility for our success, and inspiring those around us to do the same.
Commitment

What this means to us: showing determination and resilience in everything we do. It's about working hard, loving learning, and seeing challenges as opportunities to grow. We commit to our goals and to our community by being accountable for our actions and taking pride in our conduct. It's about giving our best every day.
Creativity

What this means to us: thinking differently, being curious, and approaching problems with imagination and confidence. It's about innovation and joy in discovery, finding your voice, generating ideas, and seeking solutions that make a positive difference.
Equity

What this means to us: that we aim to treat everyone fairly. We act with integrity even when that takes courage. It's about actively valuing and celebrating diversity, and recognising that people have different needs and experiences and benefit from different support. Equity creates the conditions for an inclusive community where everyone can thrive.
Kindness

What this means to us: showing empathy, care, and compassion in all our relationships and to ourselves. It's about being generous in spirit, seeing the best in others, and choosing to act with understanding and respect. Kindness strengthens our community and reminds us that how we treat people matters most.

Our School Motto: Service Not Self
Our school motto, Service Not Self, has been part of Nower Hill’s identity for generations and reflects an important principle at the heart of our community. It reminds us that we each have a responsibility to contribute positively to the school, our community and the wider world, and to support those around us.
This principle aligns closely with our values of kindness, equity and commitment. It encourages students to act with integrity, show respect, and recognise that their actions matter. At Nower Hill, Service Not Self reflects our belief that education is not only about personal success, but also about being part of a community. It's reflected in our shared vision to create choice and possibilities for all, and in the way we work together to support one another and help everyone to thrive.
