The Alan Senitt Upstanders Leadership Course

Posted on: 26/09/2022

Nower Hill is proud to have been a founder member of this programme since its inception in 2008. Alan Senitt was a student at Nower Hill from 1991-95 and both his sister Emma and brother Jamie also attended our school. Alan had embarked upon a very promising political career until his life was tragically cut short in 2006. Every year since 2008, 10 students from Year 10 have participated in the programme, which involves our students attending workshops on a variety of leadership skills at partnership schools and organising their own community-based project aimed at tackling prejudice and discrimination in our society.

The graduation for this year’s participants took place on Tuesday 20th September and was a great celebration of the efforts of the work of all the schools involved. Our students had highlighted the issue of teenage mental health, raising funds for artistic materials to be used to support creative activities in the Daffon Centre at Nower Hill.

A huge thank you must go to the students who were again magnificent in their Nower Hill ambassadorship. We very much look forward to participating again this year.
