To help prepare students who wish to apply to Oxford and Cambridge universities and medical and dental schools, we offer a full support programme called Aspire that starts in Year 12. This is led by Mr Willetts and consists of workshops on critical thinking skills, debating techniques and coping with tricky interview questions without a right or wrong answer. We lead trips to higher education fairs and university libraries, offer subject support for Oxbridge entrance tests and an individual academic mentor is assigned to each candidate. For medicine and dentistry applicants, we provide tuition for the admissions tests known as the BMAT/UKCAT and we arrange for external specialists to come in to provide the students with mock interview experience. An outline of this year’s Aspire programme is provided below.
