Year 7 Science Bushcraft Day

Posted on: 28/06/2018

On Friday 29th June, year 7 students had the opportunity to take part in a series of bush craft survival activities, designed to get them thinking about problem solving and teamwork, whilst teaching them a range of survival skills not often covered in a classroom setting.

After a discussion about the key elements required to stay alive in a survival situation, students headed up to the school extension field and spent 3 periods outside in glorious weather, trying their hand at using readily available materials to make water filters to clean dirty water, making fire using a variety of different natural tools and carving and decorating wooden pencils out of logs.

Students had a lot of fun and worked extremely well together to do their best at the challenges they faced. Well Done!
