The Arthurian Quest: Emotional Knights and Disappointing Kings?

Posted on: 12/06/2019

We are delighted to welcome our next Symposium speaker to Nower Hill.

On Tuesday 9th July 2019, Lucy Brookes, a student at Worcester College, University of Oxford, will explore Arthurian quests and male emotions - stories of knights and kings behaving and misbehaving in ways that will surprise you!

What is a hero? Are heroes brave? Do heroes cry? Do they always save the day?

Location: Main Hall  5.00pm – 6.30pm, Nower Hill High School, George V Avenue, Pinner HA5 5RP

Lucy is currently a D.Phil. student at Worcester College, University of Oxford. She works on character and identity in Medieval literature.

Lucy returned to Oxford after completing a MA in Medieval Literature at the University of York where she won the Philip Brockbank and the Derek Pearsall prizes for her work on her MA dissertation, 'Truth-telling and Truthiness in the Middle English Popular Romances'. The work exemplifies her interest in poetic, thematic, and cultural 'convention'.

The evening is free of charge and open to school students and their families, staff, Governors and all other members of the community. Please request your ticket(s) by completing the online application form.

Tickets will be sent via email. Parking is available along George V Avenue but not in the school car parks. Please park with consideration for our neighbours. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
