Nower Hill High School
Kate had a target grade of B at GCSE in Art. Her interest and ability was identified at an early stage and encouraged and enhanced through individual tutorials over her last two years. She blossomed over time not only fulfilling the requirements of the assessment criteria, but in her final pieces, she surpassed the highest expectations of her phase of study, producing work that would not look out of place at the end of two years study at A level. Kate looked set to achieve an A* this study.
Ian had always been able, however last year he excelled even further. He received focused individual attention throughout the AS course in the form of formal tutorials and informal personal direction. Schemes of learning were meticulously planned and contain a very high level of challenge. Resources and national and private gallery visits were integrated. Ian achieved 60/60 in Unit 1, 60/60 in unit 2 and 59/60 in unit 3. Not only did he fully meet the demands of the assessment criteria but he consistently surpassed it, producing work that would not look out of place at any university’s BA Hons Fine Art degree course. He was accepted onto the prestigious UCL Aim Higher Arts workshop week held at the Slade School of Art. Ian not only shone in the Fine Art disciplines of painting and sculpting; he is also an accomplished photographer. He also won the digital imaging section of the Kodak photography competition, an acclaimed annual open submission photography.
