Contact: Home Access grant helpline 0333 200 1004
Home Access update: the Home Access programme is now operating across England,
and grants are available for eligible families to purchase a computer and internet package.
These computers have been especially configured with a software bundle that is designed
to support learning at home. To qualify, families must have a child in school in years 3-9
who is entitled to free school meals, which normally means the household has an income of
less than £16,040.
Looked-after children in foster care may also be eligible for a grant and their local authority
can apply on their behalf. Families that wish to request an application form can call the
Home Access grant helpline, open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Parents calling this number will be given a basic eligibility check to see whether they qualify
for an application pack. Further eligibility checks are made on receipt of the completed application
before applicants are advised whether they qualify for the grant. The Home Access programme
is managed by Becta.
