KS4 GCSE CITIZENSHIP STUDIES (Short Course) AQA 3107
Citizenship runs as a discreet subject timetabled in Years 9 and 10.
The subject content is divided into three compulsory topics which develop
awareness of the role of citizens within gradually widening communities:-
• School, work and local community
• National and European Citizenship
• Global Citizenship
Within this framework a number of conceptual themes will be
addressed, namely:-
• Rights and responsibilities
• Decision-making, power and authority
• Participation in society

Pupils are required to produce a single piece of coursework (worth 40% of the final mark) and sit a single written exam (1.5 hours) worth 60%.
The coursework itself will be based on an aspect of the syllabus that particularly interests the pupil and must involve a practical element based around involvement in a community or school based project.
