Science and Arts Specialisms

As from September 2010 we now have Combined Science Specialism and Arts Specialism.

Arts specialism now works in tandem with Science specialism and strives to create Synergy between the two.

Under the new leadership structure, the Arts specialism seeks to embed its work within the Arts-Art, Dance, Drama, Media and Music and across the individual Arts subjects of Dance, Drama, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Media studies, Music, Music Technology and Photography. As it has always been, extra curricular clubs embellish this rich provision.

Nower Hill is a centre of excellence in both subject areas. The combined specialism drives whole-school improvement and creates a distinct ethos of continual improvement and success.  Students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of Arts and Science subjects and have many opportunities for extra-curricular activities.

As part of the specialism Nower Hill also works with partner schools to improve outcomes for young people in those schools; with community groups to support community cohesion, family learning and extended services and contributes to developments at a regional and national level.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to raising levels of achievement in secondary education. They have a membership of over 5,600 schools and organisations and are a registered charity. The trust works with headteachers, teachers and students to encourage them to develop and share new and effective teaching and learning practice, and to improve schools to raise standards and levels of achievement.
