WALK : 20th June 2008

Dear Friends, Brianna and I took part in the St Luke's Hospice Midnight Walk 08 on the 20/21st June in order to raise money for, and awareness of, the hospice organisation. We aimed to raise £300. We dedicated the walk in memory of Erna Finan, my oldest friend, who died of multiple sclerosis.

Ladies in pink take to the midnight streets to raise money for St. Luke's Hospice.

On the 20th June 2008 hundreds of ladies, dressed in bright pink tee shirts walked through the night to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice. The challenge was set over a 9 mile route which covered Harrow, Harrow Weald, Stanmore and Kingsbury.

St Luke’s says thank you for the help of the community to make this event a great success!

CUMBRIA WAY 1ST: 5th May 2008

Two of Nower Hill’s school governors took part in the St. Luke’s charity walk this year. Diana La Rue and Russell Sutcliff who has a page on the web:-

St Luke’s is the local hospice providing palliative care for mainly terminally ill patients as well as support for their families. One of the ways it raises money is through the annual walk.  About 100 people took part this year and walked the Cumbria Way on the May Bank holiday weekend (1st -5th May 2008).  The walk was about 75 miles in total, over 5 days through boggy and mountainous terrain. This is the most beautiful and picturesque part of the UK through the heart of the Lake District. It was quite tough overall although some days were easier than others.  The website gives more information about the Hospice and its work as well as more details about the walk. www.stlukes-hospice.org

15-1 SPRING CHALLENGE: 27 April 2008

This was a great success, photos to follow shortly. Following the success of last years 15:1 challenge, it was back for 2008! A two mile route up and down the Hill which showed you Harrow School and some amazing views over London. It included the 15-1 gradient up to St. Mary's Church - the hill that has given this event its name. Challengers completed as many laps as they were able to in the 3 hour period (walking or running).
