Nower Hill High School Symposium 5

Posted on: 30/11/2017

News1We were delighted to welcome Professor Rosie Weetch into school on the evening of Tuesday 21st November to speak at our 5th Nower Hill Symposium event. The symposium represents a half-termly programme of visiting speakers to promote and nourish intellectual and cultural curiosity amongst our community. Professor Weetch , an alumna of Nower Hill, spoke with us on the subject ‘Living with gods: people, objects and worlds beyond’. The talk introduced the themes of a major British Museum exhibition, for which Professor Weetch is the curator, and BBC Radio4 series. The audience were treated to a fascinating talk drawing upon world religions from Papua New Guinea to China to India, to name just a few of the cultures brought into the presentation. It was pleasing to see so many students, parents, staff and Governors in the hall as well as regulars from our local community.
