Harrow wins in London's New Year's Day Parade

Posted on: 15/01/2020

For over 20 years, all of London’s 31 Boroughs, along with the City of Westminster, have been invited to enter London's 2020 New Year's Day Parade with some form of entertainment based on the annual parade theme and to demonstrate the diversity of our great city.

Nower Hill is incredibly proud to reveal that our very own Roger Pattenden designed and created the float for the London Borough of Harrow. Roger has been with Nower Hill for over 20 years as a Technician in D&T and Drama.

The 'Heart of Harrow' float, decorated with flowers and hearts, was led from Green Park to the Houses of Parliament as part of the new year parade which was themed ‘London Loves Life’.

All entrants competed for large cash prizes for best float, act, performance or dance. The Mayor of Harrow's charity fund was awarded £5,000 after the London Borough of Harrow’s float was recognised as a top ten winner.

This is the 16th year that Roger has designed Harrow’s float, with past creations including a WW1 plane ingeniously powered by a pedal bike. Over the years the total raised for the various Mayor’s charities from Roger’s creations has exceeded an impressive £50,000.
