Subject Information

The information below explains the time devoted to each subject in each key stage.  For more detailed information on the curriculum within each subject follow the faculty links at the bottom of the page. 

KS3

In Years 7 and 8, the students follow a broad an experiential KS3 curriculum.  At the end of Year 8 students choose two of the four languages available.

KS4

At KS4 (Year 9, 10 and 11), students choose 4 option subjects alongside their studies of English, Maths and Science.

All students are encouraged to achieve the English Baccalaureate.  This recognises achievement in the following subjects:

  • Maths
  • English Language
  • Science
  • Humanities
  • Languages

This combination of subjects is not compulsory for students so that they are free to follow their interests.  Students also study non examined Citizenship, PE and PRE.

KS5

In the 6th Form, the majority of students begin on 4 A-level subjects before focusing on 3 in year 13.  We are proud of the very wide range of subjects we offer at KS5, full details of which can be found in the 6th Form area of the website.  Students receive 6 periods of teaching in each of their A-level subjects.
